Here is your Challenge

COVID has impacted all of us.  The ridership all across the MTA is no exception.  As Metro New York re-opens, it’s our aim to deliver the safest and most comfortable experience for our ridership.  We have partnered with Microsoft, institutions of higher education and a partner ecosystem of developers, designers, data scientists and trusted community minded organizations together for a week-long event (a few hours daily) to help the MTA re-imagine the railway experience for our customers.

We are seeking the development of a consumer mobile application that allows our Metro-North ridership to check availability, spacing and social distancing on each of our MNR trains.  We want our patrons to feel confident in their access given their level of comfort.  Using a blend of Microsoft’s Cloud services, MTA provided and public datasets, and the creativity of the audience of hackers with mentoring from various stakeholders, we are convinced we can civic hack a solution that helps the MTA and NYC get “MNR back on track to recovery”.
